I’m officially a college graduate. It feels so weird to say. The next chapter, real life, and adulthood starts now. There is so much I want to do and so much I want to achieve. I know the exact woman I want to be but I don’t know how to get there. It seems sort of like this panic mode that all my friends and me are in right now, unsure of the future. We feel as if we have to have our lives together right away, but we don’t. We are still so young and still learning. Life is a process and I’m so grateful to have friends and family who support me. I’m closing a chapter of my life and will continue to grow into a strong and confident woman. No, I’m definitely not where I want to be. I don’t have the job I want, loans are terrifying, and I want to travel but can’t really afford it. That’s fine, because everything will fall into place. I once heard a quote that said:
“If you’re sure of the outcome, than you were able to wait – and wait without anxiety”
Unfortunately I have been feeling anxious because when things aren’t going as planned it causes you to have uncertainty. Any other college graduates out there, just know you’re not alone. It’s important we change this negative mindset into a positive one. We might not be where we want to be, but we have to be sure that we will get there. We have to know that there will be a positive outcome and we will achieve all we want to achieve – and more. We don’t have to have it all together right now, but just keep working at it and we will.
I will never give up on my dreams and I will live the life I’ve always dreamed of. So if you’re like me, don’t stress if your postgraduate life isn’t starting out the way you thought. It’s a cold hard world out there after just graduating college, and the odds aren’t always in our favor. Jobs are scarce, and so is money but we keep grinding. Overeducated and underemployed, but we won’t give up! The world is ours now, let’s take it!
